| A super entry for the first working sleddog speciality show in the UK and weren’t we lucky in only having a downpour at the end rather than all day as forecast for this open air venue. Special thanks to my steward Jenny Berry whose efficiency got us through the big entry in good time. Judging this working sleddog show proved quite a challenge as all bar the very young and very old were in good working condition just after a winter of training and racing. Consequently order of placings were often made from nit-picking decisions. If I may say, less than scissors bite and narrowness of rear movement in Mals was a concern. |
| Best
Dog & Best In Show was the handsome wolf grey &
white 5yo male Siberian Husky LAPA UKI OF BIAKAL. Excellent head,
ears, feet, bone, body proportions and angulation. He was determined
to gallop everywhere but his novice handler eventually wore him
down to a trot just long enough for my suspicions of a sound,
light and ground-covering stride to be realised. In the most excellent
body and coat condition. |
| Reserve Best Dog & Reserve Best In Show was the impressive black & white 3yo male Alaskan Malamute KEGLUNEQ STAGAN THE WOLF AT STAGGAN. Very good head, ears, feet & big bone. Correct body proportions for a freighter, with the moderate angulation and slight slope to the topline desired for this Breed. Very powerful action showing good broadness of chest and thighs, allowing excellent drive and balanced convergence. |
| Best Bitch, Best Opposite Sex & Best Veteran was the very feminine grey & white 7yo female Siberian Husky rescue “Misha.” Not much of her but her body proportions and angulation give sound and effortless movement with a long stride. A shade over-awed, no surprise when you hear her story, but allowed me to examine her. Ear shape and size are very good but set is not her fortune. |
| Reserve Best Bitch was the attractive dirty-faced grey & white 2yo Greenland Dog NOSNIBOR CARIBOU FALL AT KISHRAN. Very promising youngster with very good head, ears, strong muzzle, good bone and feet. Moderate angulation, allowing impressively powerful and sound movement with level topline. There is time to fill out in body. Not in the best of coat condition. |
| Best Puppy was the very promising black & white 4mths female Siberian Husky KISHRAN A STAR IS BORN. Let’s hope so! Presently pretty headed with very good body proportions and angulation. Already together on the move in a very pleasing fashion. Puts her ears in the right place when encouraged. |
